5. Evaluation

Attendance 20% Students must attend at least 80% of the total class hours (minimum 160 hours out of 200 hours)

Mid-term Exam 30% Comprehensive evaluation of listening, reading, writing, and speaking skills (4 skills)
Final Exam 30% Final comprehensive evaluation of all four language skills (listening, reading, writing, speaking)

⚠️ Completion Requirements

  • Attendance: At least 80% of total class hours (160 hours or more out of 200 hours)
  • Grade: Overall grade of C (70 points or higher out of 100)
  • Students who meet these requirements will receive a certificate of completion and be eligible to advance to Level 2

6. Textbooks & Learning Materials

  • Anyang University Korean Language Program curriculum-specific textbooks
  • Integrated Level 1 Korean textbook covering listening, speaking, reading, and writing

  • Supplementary learning materials and handouts provided by instructors

※ Textbook fees are not included in tuition and must be purchased separately before or during the first week of class.

7. Cultural Activities

Throughout the semester, Level 1 students participate in various cultural activities to enhance their understanding of Korean culture and practice their language skills in authentic contexts:

  • Cultural field trips: Visits to historical sites, museums, and cultural landmarks in Anyang and nearby areas
  • Traditional arts workshops: Hands-on experience with Korean calligraphy, paper crafts, and traditional music
  • Korean cooking classes: Learning to prepare authentic Korean dishes
  • Language exchange: Meeting with Korean university students for conversation practice
  • Festival participation: Experiencing traditional Korean festivals and Anyang local events
  • Cultural performances: Attending K-pop shows, traditional dance, and theater performances

  • Class placement is based on a placement test conducted before the start of the semester for students with prior Korean language experience
  • Complete beginners with no Korean language experience are automatically placed in Level 1
  • Classes use an integrated, communication-focused approach with emphasis on practical language use
