Introduction to Dong-A University Korean Language Course

As a cornerstone of Dong-A University’s global human resource development, the Korean Language Institute provides Korean language education for international learners who want to study the language and understand Korea more deeply. The program combines structured language training with diverse cultural experiences, and also supports learners who plan to enter universities or graduate schools in Korea.

Key Features

4 Semesters per Year (10 Weeks Each)

The course runs four times a year. Each semester is 10 weeks, allowing learners to join at multiple points and progress steadily through level-based classes.

Intensive Learning (200 Hours/Semester)

Classes run Monday to Friday. Total class hours are 20 hours per week × 10 weeks = 200 hours per semester, designed for practical communication and academic readiness.

Small Class Size (Up to 15 Students)

With a class size of up to 15, students can receive more focused guidance and practice speaking, listening, reading, and writing in a supportive environment.

Korean + Special Activities

The curriculum includes Korean language classes plus special activities that help learners experience both traditional culture and contemporary Korean culture during their stay.

Beginner 1 Korean Language Course (Level 1)

Beginner 1 is designed for learners who are starting Korean from the basics. Students learn Hangul, pronunciation, and essential sentence structure, building a foundation for everyday communication in Korea.

1. Learning Objectives

  • Recognize and write Hangul (consonants/vowels) and read simple syllables accurately.
  • Use basic vocabulary and grammar patterns needed for daily life.
  • Handle simple communication such as greetings, self-introduction, and everyday needs.
  • Read and write short practical sentences used in daily situations.

  • Hangul & Pronunciation: Basic consonants/vowels, syllable structure, sound rules, clear pronunciation practice.
